AHMEDABAD: In a proud moment for the coastal region of Karnataka, Shreesha S. Achar, a talented spinner hailing from Tekkatte, Udupi, officially made his debut for the Karnataka Senior Men’s Team in the ongoing BCCI Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite 2025-26.
A Memorable Cap Presentation
The debut ceremony took place at the ground in Ahmedabad ahead of Karnataka’s league fixture. In a heart-warming gesture, the Karnataka team’s vice-captain and seasoned international campaigner, Karun Nair, presented the prestigious debut cap to Shreesha. Karnataka Captain Mayank Agarwal was present alongside the squad to welcome the young left-arm orthodox bowler into the state’s elite fold.
Recognition from KL Rahul
Shreesha’s debut was further highlighted by his clinical performance on the field. Known for his agility and reflexes, he made an immediate impact, earning him the “Best Fielder” award within the team. The award was presented in the dressing room by Indian star and fellow Karnataka teammate KL Rahul. Receiving such an honor from a world-class athlete like Rahul has been described as a “dream-come-true” moment for the debutant.
The Journey from Udupi
Shreesha S. Achar’s rise to the state team is a testament to his consistency in the domestic circuit. A standout performer for the Hubli Tigers and Mysore Warriors in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, Shreesha has long been one of the top wicket-takers in the Bengaluru league circuits.
Hailing from the small town of Tekkatte in Udupi, his journey from rural grounds to the Narendra Modi Stadium complex in Ahmedabad serves as an inspiration to aspiring cricketers across the Karavali belt.
“The debut of Shreesha Achar is a significant milestone for rural talent in Karnataka. His hard work in the local leagues and the Maharaja Trophy has finally earned him the yellow and blue jersey he deserves,“ remarked a senior KSCA official.
